Last weekend, I had the pleasure of staying at the newly renovated The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel and experience a wonderful staycation in San Francisco! For the Labor Day weekend, Naveen and I were looking for a cozy place to staycation that was not too far from the city and still have options to do some local SF exploring, so The Clift Royal Sonesta Hotel was a perfect Choice.

LOCATION
Designed by Philippe Starck, this stylish hotel is a just a block away from Union Square (San Francisco’s upscale shopping and tourist destination) and fits the bill if you’re looking for a great location, modern amenities and simple yet elegant furnishings. San Francisco is a relatively smaller city, but do not underestimate the traffic and crooked roads – If you are a tourist visiting they city, I highly recommend staying close to the downtown area which is super close to SF landmarks and restaurants. The hotel is also just within walking distance of Chinatown, Embarcadero, Ferry Building and the SF MOMA – other great places to explore in the area.

CHECKING IN
As you enter the property, you are whisked away into luxury by a grand lobby set in a wonderful blend of iconic past and modern furnishings. Tall modern columns, cozy fireplace, comfortable lounge area and an attentive staff – Hospitality at its finest. The property is adorned with tons of art corners, 24-hour fitness center and 12,524 square feet of function and event space.

THE ROOMS
The rooms & suites boast sleek, minimalist vibes with a white, gray and blue color palette. We stayed in a newly redesigned Junior Suite on the 15th floor, with a view of the city skyline. After a full day of exploring when we reached our hotel, we were stunned by the view (best panoramic views of SF I’ve ever seen) and immediately opened up a bottle of wine to enjoy a romantic sunset.
If you’re like me and appreciate a good view, you’ll love any of the city facing rooms!

All the rooms/suites have the Signature Sonesta bedding – SOOO soft that I felt like I was sleeping on clouds.

The suites have separate dining and working space with a mini-bar, 50-inch television and Keurig coffee maker with locally sourced coffee and tea. I also found the hotel staff to be extremely attentive, friendly and helpful throughout my stay.
