Wanna up your portrait game but have no idea how to get the necessary pictures? I mean, you could hire a photographer, but that can get REALLY expensive. Or, you could have friends/family shoot for you, BUT you’ll have to rely on their schedule so that isn’t always practical.
SOLUTION: You, Yourself and your tripod 😉 . You don’t need a professional camera or a photographer to create some fun content. You just need you and a tripod for your camera or a makeshift holder for your phone. So I’m sharing 12 portrait ideas you can create on your own in the comfort of your home.
Let’s get started.
1. Less Bitter more Glitter
Some girls are just born with glitter in their veins but if not, just dip yourself whole in glitter. For this shoot, I literally sprinkled glitter all over a big sheet and rolled on it to cover my hands and face in glitter. Fun Hack: Play a little holi with glitter while you are at it.

2. Button up baby!
Visit your closest dollar store to grab a box of assorted buttons and some eyelash glue. This is one of the cheapest creative Idea that I came up with and absolutely loved how the portraits turned out. Fair warning ⚠️ – gluing all the buttons onto your face is time consuming and a little itchy!
Throw in a rustic hat to complete the look.

3. I Heart You
Pinterest Ideas getting too repetitive ? Take two ideas and make it your own. I blended two ideas into one for this shoot: Heart painted eye + Tulle . Paint a heart on one eye and snug under a yard of tulle and strike some poses. I created this portrait for the Memorial day, so I stuck with the red, white and blue color theme. But this can be easily re-created with any color of your choice and would be a great option for a valentines day themed shoot.

4. Star Crazy
Aligned all my stars for this fun shoot 😉 🌟 . Draw small stars on a hard paper and carve them out using a box cutter. Set up a white backdrop in your backyard and ask your friend/family member to hold up the carved sheet against the sunlight to cast the star shaped shadows on your face as you pose.

No backyard or sunlight? You can have the same setup indoors and substitute the sunlight with your phone flash and work the magic.

5.Made it to the Vogue Cover
Okay so with the social media going gaga over the Vogue trend, I had to hop on it. I created a series of 3 photos with this theme for instagram and all you need for this is a Vogue Magazine. (and some tape)
Vogue Photo Idea 1:
Pick a wall at your home and with good lighting. Pull out a few colorful magazine pages and tape them on the wall to create your own DIY backdrop. Set your camera on self time on a tripod and snap some trendy photos. Watch the BTS here!

Vogue Photo Idea 2:
I liked my DIY Vogue backdrop SOOOOOO much that I kept it for a week. I decided to click some photos for #pillowchallenge by zapping a pillow onto my body with a belt to create a pillow dress. Added in some chunky jewelry to the look!

Vogue Idea 3:
This is for all the Tik Tok creators out there. I finally tried the #MyLegsWereTooLong trend, pulling in my husband to model his legs for the video. Watch the video here!
6. Blue Whirlpool
This portrait idea is Suuuuper easy yet so appealing. Sprinkle some glitter of a single color on a transparent glass table top and create the shape you like. Next, lie under the table and experiment with some shots. Watch the BTS here!

7. Dont burst my bubble
I have been indulging in a lot of bubble baths this season to relieve some of the stress. And a pop of the bubble gave me this photo idea. I blew out some bubbles for a self portrait and edited in a few more with the @Picsart app. Absolutely loved to create this fun shot!

8. Breakfast club
Toast and Jam for me Please! It is my go-to breakfast every weekend especially if I’m traveling. Spread some juicy strawberry jam on the toast and carve out a small heart from the toast. Hold it up real high if you’re a toast and jam person like me 😉 🙌🏻 and if not, do it for a few fun photos at your next breakfast.

9. 6 Ft Please
Send out that important message this pandemic- 6 Feet Please. Social Distancing and maintaining 6 ft distance from everyone is one of the most crucial step to help reduce the spread of COVID-19. So I created this photo holding out a tape measure 6 ft away from the camera.

Hope everyone is staying safe and following social distancing.
10. Birthday Party
With all the clubs closed and no fancy dinners how to throw the best lockdown Birthday Party? Here’s an Idea! Blow up colorful balloons , light some candles, bake a cake, wear a fancy outfit and don’t forget the champagne. Invite all your friends and family to join in REMOTELY and have a blast!

Its your special day so live it out with l❤️ve and laughter!

11. Glitter is my makeup of choice!
How to make your plain suit pop? Glitter it up baby✨ ! I decided to experiment with my makeup for this portrait. I smudged some lip gloss on my eyelids and dabbed some glitter on it. Also added in a palm leaf to get that Monochromatic aesthetic.

12. Always look on the Pink side of Life!
Wear a pink dress/top and throw in some pink confetti and set your camera in burst mode to capture all your motion. Edit in a pink background and trust me all that pink can never be too much.
